National Youth Orchestra of Canada Ochestra
Jon Darlington, conductor
The brainchild of the noted conductor Walter Susskind, the NYOC has enjoyed an iconic reputation for more than 50 years as Canada’s orchestral finishing school, providing the most comprehensive and in-depth training program available to our country’s best young classical musicians. The NYOC trains well-rounded and skilled musicians who are able to thrive in a variety of performance environments. Dedicated to perfecting the skills and talents of these young Canadian musicians for careers as professional orchestral players, the NYOC provides short but intensive summer session programs. They have toured every major Canadian city, with occasional trips internationally. Tokyo World Youth Conference (1996) awarded them Best Youth Orchestra in the World. NYOC is the first large ensemble to be named Stockey Young Artist.
